For the past several years, Kate Krider's work hs reflected impressions from her travels in southeast Asia, China, Italy, and the South Pacific. The tumultuous history of Asia, the tropical beauty, and the gentle friendliness of the people were translated to colorful paintings of stilted homes, the boat life of the Mekong Delta and the changing, dramatic skies of these areas.

On an early trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, Kate was influenced by the work of the northern artists and began working primarily with a palette knife applying paint in thick layers of color and texture to depict impressions and images of the culture.
